Best Installation Winner – Brookfield Properties Manhattan Midtown Marketing Suite
Brice McPheeters, the Sr. Director of Marketing and Product Line Management for NanoLumens, awarded Brookfield the Crystal Nixel award for Best Installation. Said Brice, “the architecturally integrated ribbon displays made this a clear-cut winner. Hands down, this project using our customizable frame+skin topology of our Nixel Series™ to contour to the building, is our winner because of the connected experience they created to transport their clients throughout their property using our flexible technology.”
The Marketing Suite contains two large, curved NanoLumens video walls: the gallery wall and the immersive theater. The gallery wall has a ceiling suspended linear ribbon that wraps around two sides of an interior glass-walled conference room and is 5’ high and 60’ long. It contours the conference room walls and includes two right angle curves of NanoLumens’ 1.56mm Nixel Series Flex led modules on a custom engineered structure that appears to float on the glass. These stunning videowalls push the boundaries innovation, functionality, and form. The clients and patron of the Midtown West Marketing Suite can experience Brookfield Properties’ 7M square foot mixed-use property Manhattan West through artfully contoured LED displays featuring dynamic content regarding news and events from the area.
Best Content Winner – Ron Clark Academy
Acclaimed Middle-School gets the Crystal Nixel™ Award for their stellar shared immersive media experience where a suspended ceiling videowall featuring the schools’ mascot, a dragon, was designed by the famed Game of Thrones content creators. The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta is home to some award-winning AV projects including its recent rotunda addition installed by Baker Audio Visual. The Academy’s 4th – 8th grade students are thrilled by the 52-foot-diameter, circular Nanolumens LED screen installed on the ceiling in their main atrium. With content reminiscent of Harry Potter’s adventures, the system is a performance and educational aid for the school’s students and educators, who come from all over the world to participate in events and training. When not being used as an educational tool, the screen displays scenes of dragons flying overhead and landing on the rim and looking down into the room.
The client envisioned a space for their students that was surreal and fully immersive. Something that would build excitement among staff and students entering the main atrium. The content goes a step further by mimicking outdoor scenes with lighting adjusts that match the time of day depicted. The objective was seamless integration of a one-of-a-kind AV system that would create a truly immersive experience. Architects designed the experience built to honor of a former student tragically killed by gang violence.
Congratulations to all our winners!
