As we wind down the last days of Spring, what could be better than a chilled glass of white wine? Perhaps a white wine that comes from a certified Napa Green winery? In the AV world we’ve all heard of LEED and Green initiatives when it comes to buildings, but did you know that wine is much like AV in this respect? The LEED rating systems creates buildings that help its’ occupants safely, healthily, and sustainably thrive. The Napa Green initiative is alike in that it certifies and accredits the wine industry covering every step in the process from soil to bottling so that the Napa regions’ environment thrives. Along with the incredible taste, the St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery are a favorite spot to relax knowing that the wine has gone through many levels of quality control to exceed green standards.
I first had a taste of the St. Supery Napa Valley Estate Sauvignon Blanc at a summer party, and since then, it’s been a favorite. I buy it often in the spring and summer months for gatherings. This wine is bright, fresh, and lively. Its aromas of grapefruit, hints of citrus, and dried herbs is highly enjoyable. When it comes to white wines, I definitely prefer the refreshing crisp and fruit-forward citrus flavors most often found in a Sauvignon Blanc. Although each vintage may have slight nuances that define the flavor profile, in my opinion, St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc has always delivered year after year.
Also, if you get a chance to visit St. Supery, make sure to casually have lunch or dinner at the nearby Rutherford Grill. It has great indoor/outdoor ambiance and excellent food that they pair with the extraordinary wines of the region. It’s a beautiful place that locals really love. Cheers, enjoy!
